Pemberton Heights is one of Austin’s most architecturally significant neighborhoods — an established estate-scale community west of MoPac and just north of Lady Bird Lake, where 1920s and 1930s Tudor, Spanish, and Colonial homes sit on generous lots beneath canopies of mature live oaks. The original housing stock has been carefully preserved across generations of owners who appreciate historic architecture, and the formal living rooms here are almost always anchored by original brick or stone fireplaces that have been the centerpiece of the room for nearly a century. So when a Pemberton Heights homeowner reached out about installing a 65″ Samsung Frame TV Pro above their original brick fireplace, we knew this was an install where every detail would need to honor both the historic architecture and the design intent of the Frame Pro itself.

The fireplace surround was original 1920s brick — beautiful, characterful, and one of the more demanding surfaces in our trade to drill into without damaging the masonry. We pre-marked every anchor point, drilled the brick with carbide masonry bits, and used heavy-duty sleeve anchors rated well above the load of the Frame Pro. The included Slim Fit Wall Mount was set perfectly flush against the surround so the TV sits nearly flat against the brick — the way Samsung designed the Frame Pro to look. The One Connect cable was routed through the wall behind the brick to a recessed power outlet relocated below the mantle, eliminating any visible cable across the historic surround. With the homeowner’s curated art loaded into Art Mode, the finished result looked exactly the way it should: a framed piece of art hanging above a 100-year-old brick fireplace, with no electronics aesthetic at all.

Brick fireplace installs are technically demanding for several reasons: brick can crack under the wrong drill pressure, masonry anchors need to be selected for the brick type and condition (original 1920s brick is different from modern brick), and you have to plan around the heat rise from the firebox below. Adding a Samsung Frame TV Pro to the equation raises the bar further. The Frame Pro is Samsung’s flagship art-display TV — it uses the One Connect Box system, which routes a single thin cable from the TV to a remote connection box that holds all the inputs. That cable is designed to be run inside the wall to a relocated power outlet, with the One Connect Box itself hidden in a nearby cabinet or media console. Doing this right means drilling brick carefully, anchoring the Slim Fit Wall Mount perfectly flush, and running the One Connect cable cleanly inside the wall to a code-compliant relocated outlet. The result is what the Frame Pro was designed for: a brilliant TV that genuinely disappears into the room when it’s off.
