Here is a recent outdoor TV installation Barton Hills Austin job by Bat City TV. Barton Hills is a hilly, green south Austin neighborhood between Barton Springs Road and the Barton Creek Greenbelt, near Zilker Park, where covered patios and outdoor living spaces are an extension of the home. When a Barton Hills homeowner reached out to Bat City TV about mounting a 50-inch TV on their covered patio with a Sonos Beam soundbar below it, they wanted an outdoor entertainment setup built for the outdoor environment and mounted cleanly.

The install was a 50-inch TV mounted on an outdoor wall-mount bracket on a covered patio, with the Sonos Beam soundbar on a dedicated bracket directly below and the wiring managed for an outdoor environment. Outdoor mounting calls for hardware suited to exterior exposure, including corrosion-resistant fasteners and cable management that holds up to moisture and temperature changes over time. We assessed the mounting surface, used weather-appropriate hardware, and positioned the Sonos Beam below the TV at a height that suits the patio’s seating area. The Beam was connected over HDMI eARC. The Barton Hills homeowner ended up with the TV and soundbar mounted cleanly on the covered patio.

Outdoor TV mounting takes a different approach than indoor work, because the materials, connections, and hardware all have to account for the outdoor environment. Indoor mounting hardware can corrode outdoors, and indoor cable management does not seal against moisture. We also look at whether the TV suits the exposure at the installation spot, since a fully weatherproof location, a partly protected one, and a covered patio each have different requirements. The Sonos Beam is made for indoor use, so on a covered patio we place it where it is protected from direct weather, and we protect the connections and mounting points from the elements.

Bat City TV installs TVs and audio outdoors, and as an authorized Samsung dealer we can supply the Samsung Terrace outdoor TV line. We can also supply Sonos audio for homeowners who want to extend their audio to the patio.
