Northwest Hills is one of Austin’s most established affluent neighborhoods — the wooded custom-home community between MoPac and Loop 360 in northwest Austin, where established professional families have built homes on generous lots designed to accommodate real primary living rooms sized for genuine large-format TVs. So when a Northwest Hills homeowner reached out about installing an 83″ LG G6 OLED — LG’s flagship Gallery series flush-mount OLED — with a recessed wall box behind it to eliminate any cord visibility or standoff from the wall, we knew this was exactly the install where the top-of-market OLED experience had to be delivered with the top-of-market install precision. The G-series exists specifically to be flush against the wall like framed art. Cutting corners on the cord management would defeat the whole point.
The customer bought the 83″ LG G6 OLED through Bat City TV at authorized dealer pricing — sold, delivered, and installed in one appointment. The G6 is LG’s 2026 flagship Gallery series OLED, engineered from the ground up to sit flush against the wall like framed art rather than to protrude like a standard TV. It ships with LG’s Gallery Wall Mount specifically designed for near-flush mounting. Combined with a recessed wall box behind the TV to house the power outlet and cable termination, the finished install eliminates every source of standoff and cord visibility — the TV presses truly flat against the drywall with zero visible cabling anywhere. We planned the recessed box position between studs, cut and framed the enclosure precisely, installed a code-compliant power receptacle inside the box, and mounted the Gallery Wall Mount over the assembly. The 83″ G6 weighs around 80 pounds and required multi-stud anchoring engineered for both the static load and the near-flush profile. Signal cables routed through the box, everything terminated cleanly, and the G6 hung on the wall like a piece of very large framed art. Finished install: 83 inches of flagship OLED sitting truly flush against the wall, no cord visible, no outlet visible, no standoff from any angle.
The 83″ LG G6 with a recessed wall box is arguably the top-of-market installation on the OLED side of the industry, and both elements are worth explaining because most homeowners considering flagship OLED don’t realize how the two pieces work together. LG G-series exists as an intentional design category: OLED for buyers who want gallery flush mounting rather than standard TV profile. The G6 ships with LG’s Gallery Wall Mount specifically engineered to hold the TV as close to the wall as possible. But even with the Gallery mount, there’s some standoff because the power outlet and cabling have to go somewhere behind the TV — typically about half an inch. That half-inch is often invisible head-on but visible from any angle other than dead-center. For an 83″ flagship OLED specifically engineered to be flat against the wall, that standoff undermines the entire design intent. A recessed wall box eliminates it completely. The box is a hollow enclosure cut and framed into the drywall between studs behind the TV, containing the power receptacle and any cable termination points. With the box installed, the Gallery mount can sit truly flush and the TV presses against the drywall with zero visible depth. It’s a specialty install that requires drywall cutting, in-wall framing, and code-compliant receptacle work — most installers don’t offer it. But for an 83″ G6 install, it’s the difference between “flagship OLED against the wall” and “flagship OLED as flat against the wall as physics allows.” At this equipment price point, cutting corners on the cord management would defeat what the customer bought in the first place.
