Steiner Ranch is one of the most established affluent communities in northwest Austin — the wooded Hill Country enclave off 620 above Lake Austin where custom homes on substantial lots take real advantage of the topography and established professional families have built dedicated media rooms sized for genuine home theater rather than settling for TV-and-soundbar setups. So when a Steiner Ranch homeowner reached out about building a full home theater around a 77″ Samsung S90H QD-OLED that they sourced through us — integrating the TV with their AV receiver and a discrete speaker system for real surround sound — we knew this was a customer who understood the difference between “TV with sound” and actual home theater. That’s the install profile most residential installers don’t do. It’s what we do.

The customer bought the 77″ Samsung S90H QD-OLED through Bat City TV at authorized dealer pricing — sold, delivered, and installed as part of a complete home theater integration. The S90H is Samsung’s current-generation QD-OLED at 77″, competing with LG’s C-series and Sony’s Bravia 8 II — QD-OLED specifically delivers higher brightness than traditional WOLED while preserving the perfect blacks and pixel-level contrast that OLED is built on. We mounted the S90H on a low-profile wall mount at proper viewing height, then handled the real work: full integration with the AV receiver and discrete speaker system. HDMI eARC connection from the S90H to the receiver for lossless audio pass-through including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Speaker wire runs verified at every channel — center, front L/R, surrounds, and subwoofer. Room calibration through the receiver’s correction system (Audyssey, YPAO, or Dirac depending on the receiver brand). All source devices paired via HDMI-CEC for one-remote control. Full system test through actual playback material from the customer’s viewing position to confirm every channel works, the picture is calibrated, and audio timing is correct. Finished install: 77″ QD-OLED on the wall, full receiver-based surround integrated and calibrated, one-remote operation, ready to enjoy the moment we left.

Real home theater with a receiver and discrete speakers is genuinely different install work from TV-with-soundbar installs. First, the audio quality math is different. Soundbars are engineered for compromise — they deliver acceptable audio in a single form factor. A receiver-driven system with a proper center channel, dedicated front L/R, discrete surrounds, and a subwoofer delivers audio that’s simply not achievable in a soundbar because it uses physical speaker separation and dedicated amplification for each channel. Dialog clarity from the center channel alone is meaningfully better than any soundbar. Second, integration work matters. A receiver-based system needs speaker distance measurements, level matching between channels, crossover settings between mains and subwoofer, HDMI-CEC pairing for single-remote operation, source device integration, and room correction calibration. Skip any of these and the customer has a system that technically works but doesn’t sound like what they paid for. Third, HDMI eARC vs ARC matters for high-end audio. eARC passes lossless Dolby Atmos and DTS:X from the TV to the receiver at full bit rate — ARC compresses the audio and loses quality. For a customer who invested in Atmos content and Atmos-capable speakers, eARC is required. Fourth, source input planning matters. The customer’s Apple TV, gaming console, streaming stick, and other source devices need to route through the receiver’s HDMI inputs so all audio processing happens correctly — sending some sources direct to the TV bypasses the audio system entirely, which is a common installation mistake. Get all of it right and the customer has real home theater. Skip any of it and they have expensive equipment that doesn’t perform.
