Tarrytown is one of Austin’s most established and historically significant neighborhoods — the leafy, walkable community west of MoPac between Enfield Road and Lake Austin Boulevard, where original 1930s and 40s homes sit alongside thoughtful renovations and generations of Austin professionals have raised families on quiet oak-lined streets. The homes here are custom-scaled and design-forward, with living rooms sized to give a large-format TV real presence without dominating. So when a Tarrytown homeowner reached out about installing a 77″ LG OLED on a full-motion articulating mount with the power cord hidden inside the wall via a code-compliant power relocation kit, we knew this was the kind of install where every technical element — mount selection, anchoring, cable routing, and code compliance — needed to match the care the rest of the home had already been given.

The setup was a 77″ LG OLED mounted on a heavy-duty full-motion articulating arm with a UL-listed in-wall power transfer kit bringing a code-compliant outlet directly behind the TV. This is a stacked-premium install with three technically demanding elements combined. The 77″ LG OLED weighs 65-75 pounds — at the upper edge of what most full-motion mounts safely handle, so we selected a mount rated well above the load and engineered for the leverage that comes from articulating an arm at that size. Anchoring went across multiple studs (full-motion arms cantilever the load out from the wall and multiply the effective leverage — single-stud is not enough). The power kit: we cut a code-compliant receptacle box behind the TV, ran in-wall-rated wiring inside the wall down to a second code-compliant receptacle at the standard outlet height, and terminated both ends properly. HDMI and signal cables routed through the wall via low-voltage pass-through plates with intentional slack loops sized for the full range of arm articulation. Finished install: 77″ OLED that tucks nearly flat against the wall when it’s not in use and swings toward the couch or the room when it is, with zero visible power or signal cabling.

The 77″ LG OLED specifically is worth calling out because it’s arguably the flagship OLED size in the entire market. LG manufactures the OLED panels that Sony, Panasonic, and others use, and the 77″ size is LG’s signature — big enough for genuine cinematic viewing at typical Austin living room distances, but small enough to fit installations that 83″ and 97″ cannot. The C4 and G4 series are the current flagship lines, with the G4 offering the gallery-flush design that pairs particularly well with a fixed mount, and the C4 offering the more versatile install profile that pairs well with full-motion. On the install side, combining full-motion with an in-wall power kit is the top-tier configuration and each element has to be handled properly. Full-motion at 77″ requires a mount rated well above the TV’s static weight because articulation multiplies effective leverage — cantilevered loads at extended positions can double or triple the force applied to the wall anchors. Multi-stud anchoring is mandatory, not optional. The power kit means running a code-compliant receptacle inside the wall behind the TV (standard TV power cords are not rated for in-wall use, which is both an NEC violation and a fire risk). The cable management has to allow full arm articulation without binding — intentional slack loops sized for the arm’s full extension range prevent cables from disconnecting or damaging ports when the arm moves. Do all of this correctly and the finished install is one of the most beautiful configurations in residential AV: a 77″ OLED that appears to float off the wall, extends to whatever angle the room needs, and shows only the TV with zero visible cabling.
