The setup was a 75″ TV mounted on a low-profile fixed wall mount above the fireplace mantel. We located and anchored into multiple studs to safely distribute the cantilevered weight of the 75″ (a 75″ TV weighs 60-80 pounds and demands proper multi-stud anchoring, especially at fireplace height where sight lines are unforgiving of any misalignment), and set the mount level and centered on the wall above the mantel with the TV at the right height for comfortable viewing from the couch. Cables were managed cleanly down to the equipment location, connected, and picture-tested from where the homeowner actually sits. Finished result: a 75″ TV that reads as intentional above the fireplace, not tacked-on — the fireplace and the TV working together as one composed focal point rather than two elements competing for attention.
Mounting a TV above a fireplace is one of the most common install requests we get in Austin, and it comes with a specific set of considerations that a professional install has to plan for.
