Tech Ridge is one of the fastest-growing corridors in North Austin, newer builds along the I-35 frontage packed with family rooms built for a big screen. This install was straightforward on paper and exacting in practice: a 75-inch Samsung going up over drywall, with every cable, HDMI included, disappearing straight into the wall.

Our tech Scott anchored a full-motion mount into the studs behind the drywall, giving the room flexibility to angle the TV toward the couch or the kitchen pass-through depending on who’s watching. Then came the part that actually makes an install look finished: instead of a cord cover or an exposed HDMI cable running down the wall, we fished the HDMI straight through the wall cavity from the TV location down to the equipment shelf, along with power, so nothing is visible at all, just a clean 75-inch screen floating on the wall.

Running HDMI inside a wall isn’t just a wire and a drill. In-wall cable has to be rated for it, CL2 or CL3 rated at minimum, because standard HDMI cable jacketing isn’t rated for enclosed spaces and is a fire code violation if it’s pulled inside a wall cavity. We only run in-wall-rated cable, we route it clear of electrical lines to avoid interference, and we install a low-voltage bracket at both ends so the wall stays structurally sound and easy to service later. It’s the difference between a DIY shortcut and an install that holds up to inspection.
