The setup was a 43″ Samsung TV mounted on a low-profile fixed wall mount in the kitchen with power and signal cabling routed inside the wall via a UL-listed in-wall power transfer kit. We located and anchored into studs (even a 43″ TV at 25-35 pounds needs stud anchoring — drywall anchors alone pull out over time under any cantilevered load), set the mount level and centered on the kitchen wall at a height that works both for standing sight lines at the counter AND for seated views from any kitchen seating, and hung the TV cleanly against the wall. Then the wire work: cut a code-compliant receptacle box behind the TV, ran in-wall-rated wiring inside the wall down to a second code-compliant receptacle at the standard outlet height, and terminated both ends properly. Signal cabling routed the same way via low-voltage pass-through plates. Finished install: 43″ Samsung mounted cleanly against the kitchen wall with zero visible cabling — no cord running down to a counter outlet, no signal cable draped across the backsplash, no visual clutter in the space where the homeowner actually spends significant time cooking and entertaining.

Kitchen TV installs have specific considerations that living room installs don’t, and getting them right matters because the kitchen is one of the most visually visible rooms in the house — often visible from the living room, the dining area, and every traffic path through the home. Four things matter. First: sizing. Kitchens are compact spaces even in renovated open floor plans, and oversized TVs dominate them visually. 43″ is often the correct answer even when the wall would fit a larger size — a 55″ or 65″ in a kitchen visually competes with everything else in the space instead of complementing it. Right-sizing takes real dealer judgment; the “always pick the biggest number” installer segment gets this wrong routinely. Second: placement height. Kitchen TVs need to work for BOTH standing sight lines (someone cooking at the counter looking up while stirring) AND seated views (someone at a breakfast nook or counter seating). That’s a narrower height range than living room mounting where the TV is optimized for one couch height. Third: heat and grease avoidance. TVs don’t belong directly over the stove — the airborne grease over years of cooking degrades electronics and coats the screen, and the heat rise from the range shortens the TV’s lifespan. Place the TV on a wall away from direct cooking output. Fourth: wire concealment matters more in a kitchen than almost anywhere else. Because the kitchen is visible from adjacent rooms, a cord running down the wall to a counter outlet is a visual disruption to the whole open-floor-plan aesthetic. In-wall concealment via a code-compliant power kit and low-voltage cable routing is the professional answer, and it’s arguably more valuable in a kitchen than in a living room where the media console masks cables anyway.
